About 200 women from several generations, from different parts of the Region of Murcia, participated today in the First Day of Rural Women which was held in San Javier organized by the Department of Agriculture of the municipality of San Javier and Association of Families and Women in Rural Region of Murcia, AFAMMER.
In the Day, who opened the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerda and the mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez, has highlighted the difficulties faced by rural areas, particularly the precarious economic situation of the agricultural sector does not contribute to its continuity.
More support for agriculture, or livestock and more services and infrastructure for rural areas, or higher education are some of the demands that have emerged from a day which has also been shown one at a time, greater presence of women in front of businesses in rural areas.
Dioni Zapata leading a farming business as a result of a transformation from a conventional farming family business, or Juana Romero heads a livestock operation and partnership "Lamb Segureño Mar Menor" are examples of increased visibility women in a rural environment "more macho" than the urban, as acknowledged by the participants themselves.
Dioni and Jane shared their experience in the countryside, in a panel discussion that also involved the first female osprey in the area, Garrigós Angeles Perez (resident of the municipality, as above) withdrawal of a profession to which he devoted 15 years of his life, and when he suffered rejection by their peers still in the mid 80's, the draw of fisheries excluded because they are women.

All agreed on the essential role of women in rural areas.
The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez defended "greater social and economic recognition of rural women, access to positions of responsibility, and training as well as real and effective political equality."
The Minister, Antonio Cerdá referred to agriculture "as the great forgotten by society," and pointed to the woman as the main harm in that oblivion.
"But the woman had not been possible existence of rural areas," said Cerda also called for "more communications facilities and services" for the survival of rural areas.
The Councillor for Agriculture, Celia Martinez said in his speech that the technology gap "leads the man in front of more rural women encased in manual labor," labor or event also leads the woman, before pointing some advantages in rural areas.
Martinez stressed the contribution of the medium itself to sustainable growth, or the cultural and historical heritage that contributes to society.
