The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez and the Councillor for Sports, Carlos Albaladejo received today at City Hall the three young swimmers Swimming Club San Javier Mar Menor, Carmen San Nicolas, Serafin Sanchez and Francisco Javier Sanchez, congratulate them for their "brilliant" performance at the Children's National Championship last Winter in Palma de Mallorca, where he placed the local club as the top-ranked in the Region of Murcia.
With a turnout of 210 clubs in Spain, and over 700 swimmers competing, Carmen San Nicolas achieved 2 gold medals in 50 free and 100 back, and 2 bronze in 100 free and 200 back.
Serafin got a 5th place in 400 free and 7th in 1500.
Francisco Javier Sanchez, who competed with a knee injury, closed the local brilliant record with two 6 th positions in 200 styles and 200 back, and 10 th place at 400 crawl.
The points from the 3 swimmers achieved by the club San Javier Mar Menor is classified in the 22 position among a total of 210, being the first of all who participated in the Region of Murcia, as pointed out by the club president Leonor Samper.
Carmen, Javier Serafin and began swimming in 3 years and have 13, 16 and 17 years respectively.
Swimming is a passion for any one who is willing to train hard, sometimes late at night, 3 hours each weekday, as will also during this next bridge.
In high school, have no problem with studies while acknowledging that they have little free time.
Currently preparing for the next championship will be the Summer National Children held in July.
