Most of the birds caught were small birds that trans, from wintering sites in Africa, they head to their breeding grounds in central and northern Europe.
The high number of captures and species confirm that Grosa Island is an exceptional place to study migration.
The importance of the island for migratory birds as a resting place adds value to this protected area in addition to already known for its sea bird colonies, your funds submerged or its geological uniqueness.
The presence of researchers from Anse on the island has also contributed to the conservation of these values, as they have avoided human disturbance or poaching and other activities.
The study involved the capture of birds of small and medium size which is placed a metal ring of the Ministry of Environment.
Each of them are given a series of measures are systematically and finally put back into freedom.
The information obtained is stored in a database for further analysis and comparison.
It is the fifth season of banding that makes ANSE Grosa Island during the spring and the fourth in a row.
