The Senior General Manager, Enrique Perez, attends the session in which participants have combined popular games of the past with new forms of gambling
The workshop 'Masters of experience' that the Senior Community Center of San Javier is celebrating this summer in activities marking the European Year of Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity, is allowing local children to relate to older people its environment and approach to other forms of gaming and entertainment.
This initiative was developed in collaboration with the Summer School of the College of Education and Primary 'Virgen de Loreto' of San Javier, whose students are sharing with the biggest Social Centre craft workshops, storytelling and games.
The Senior General Manager of the Institute of Social Murciano, Enrique Perez, now shared with the participants of this project a day in which adults and children have combined popular games of the past with new forms of gambling.
According to Perez, "while the grandparents have explained how simple tongue twisters and finger puppets were part of their entertainment for children, the kids have shown that modern puzzles serve to broaden knowledge."
It has also stressed the importance of these initiatives "because the retirement pension represents only not social work, and older still have much to contribute."
In this regard, he stressed that "our ancestors must feel useful, valued and respected by the young, and these activities help the little ones who appreciate the value they have grandparents in the family."
