The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martínez Pastor and the Councillor for Sports, Carlos Albaladejo received today in the city of San Javier to local canoeist, José Antonio Lucas Albaladejo than 56 years just proclaimed World Champion in K1 and K2 Veterans Marathon in the World Championships held in Rome, Italy.
Juan Martinez handed the shield of the municipality and a medal commemorating the 175th anniversary of the town in recognition of sporting merit "an exemplary sportsman of our town."
Lucas Antonio Albaladejo was one of the pioneers of canoeing in Santiago de la Ribera where he started at age 12 with a sport that has not stopped practicing for 44 years, with an extensive list harvested in multiple competitions they participated representing local club.
In his next goal will represent Spain, as it has been selected to participate in the Olympics I Veterans to be held from 2 to 11 August in the Italian city of Turin.
"Lucas", as it is known in its environment, has taken a few days off to celebrate his victory, but will soon return to their daily training with the illusion start your next goal.
