The mayor of San Javier explained that the surplus in 2012 was due "to the austerity measures, savings and improved monitoring of budget execution, carried out by the government team, and the payment plan providers that has allowed to catch up. "
Juan Martinez said "the good economic objective which shed these figures, but remain cautious because now we have to be able to continue improving and fulfilling, as we are doing, to pay our bills, having become the effect of the payment plan suppliers ".
In this regard, noted that since the last quarter of 2012 the City pays its suppliers in an average of 60 days compared to 156 days it took to pay half in late 2011.
Martinez recalled that provider payment plan has since increased its municipal debt with banks "that nevertheless stands at 41 percent, far below the 75 percent limit marked by the law."
About 2.1 million euros in surplus, 2012, Juan Martínez recalled that while so far the current regulations requires allocating surplus municipal accounts to pay long-term debt, "we are waiting for the approval of an amendment of that law, by the central government, which would allow us to use part of that money to make investments that help energize the economic life of our town. "
