San Javier Airport yesterday received the first flight from Prague with 189 senior tourism passengers who will spend a week's holiday in La Manga.
This is the first group of about 1,700 senior tourists who arrive at the airport of San Javier each week until the end of June.
The company, which operates this route with arrival and departure from San Javier every Monday, is Quality Tours, the leading Czech operate specialized in Senior Tourism.
The Councillor for Tourism and Beaches of the City of San Javier, Antonio Martinez Turrets received yesterday the flight in the airport of San Javier and his colleague from San Pedro del Pinatar, Antonio Garcia, the airport director, Pedro Vicente Gallut, director of Tourism Marketing Office of the Region of Murcia, Juan Angel Martinez and Business Development Manager Turismmo Institute, Manuel Fernández-Delgado.
The plane, a Boeing 737-800, was received by an arc of water released by two airport fire trucks in the tradition of "baptize" the inaugural flights.
A group of "huertanos" the song and dance group from San Javier gave a touch of color to welcome the passage with flowers and tourist information about the region of the Mar Menor.
The flight from Prague comes after the Mar Menor municipalities formalized in the last edition of Fitur status Senior Tourism Destination in Europe, for which signed an agreement with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, which turned the capital Murcia senior European tourism during 2013, with La Manga Mar Menor as a destination.
The Councillor for Tourism, Antonio Martinez stressed the importance of action that will bring hundreds of tourists to our area contributing to the seasonality of tourism as the Senior Tourism project, partially subsidized, develops in low season.
This project, now in its fourth edition, is aimed at European citizens with a minimum of 55 years.
