The Local Police of San Javier is the only Security Force Murcia involved in the European project DRUID, through which is a study in 19 European countries on driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol and medicines.
The first part of the study was conducted between 2008 and 2009 and now five years later, the local police involved in the study that Spain is doing to compare data and study its evolution.
To do this, the agents perform the same tests then, at the same points at the same hours, day and night both on weekdays and holidays.
These tests are carried out with a rapid construction meter simply a device which analyzes the presence of various drugs in the body with a saliva sample.
Those who test positive for any of the 6 types of drug analyzes, is sent to a central laboratory that confirms and details the results for the study.
The objectives of the study are to determine the prevalence of drivers driving having consumed alcohol and / or drugs, know your demographic profile, explore the association of alcohol and other drugs and habits of such driving profile.
The data obtained are in addition to other areas of Spain to draw national conclusions.
In the first study, conducted between 2008 and 2009, conducted 3,302 tests in Spain of which 2743 were negative and 559 positive.
Most positive, were cannabis, alcohol and cocaine, noting also the alcohol mixture with some type of drug or combination of cannabis and cocaine.
