Santiago de la Ribera is from today the second stop of the exhibition of old photographs "San Javier Family Album", which can be visited from 10:00 to 13:00 h.
and 15:00 to 21:00 h.
until 5 July in the hall of the cultural center "Prince of Asturias".
The exhibition, which was presented, along with the book published by the city with the same name, last May in San Javier, collected an extensive collection of photographs collectively donated by individuals and from family albums.
In total there were 3,151 images that 331 people donated.
With them, and after a selection has been made one album that reflects, through some 400 photographs, life as it was from 1867, the date of the oldest photo, until 1980, although documented years correspond to half of the last century.
The images are organized in sections, like Places and Landscapes, Leisure and Recreation, Pictures, Education, Sports, Festivals and Traditions, Crafts, and one of the most celebrated, Love Stories
The project, which was coordinated from the municipal archives, started in 2011 to coincide with the 175th anniversary of the creation of the municipality of San Javier.
After the initial invitation to neighbors to contribute photographs began an intensive collection and processing of images, thanks to the huge reaction to it among the population, which has culminated in the album, in book and in this show now you can visit in Santiago de la Ribera.
