The Antidesahucios Municipal Commission launches a campaign to collect food, hygiene and cleaning products to be delivered to Caritas (29/07/2013)

Antidesahucios Commission of the City of San Javier has organized a campaign to collect non-perishable food, personal hygiene products and cleaning to be delivered to Caritas of San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera.

The Town Planning and a member of the Commission, Antonio Luengo, with José Espinar, spokesman for the Platform Stop Evictions Mar Menor, and Ana Torres, Caritas of Santiago de la Ribera presented today at City Hall campaign has begun this morning and will run until Friday August 2.

Volunteers Time Bank of San Javier, Stop Evictions Platform Caritas Mar Menor and collection serve tables are installed in the Town Hall, San Javier, the esplanade Barnuevo in Santiago de la Ribera, and Eroski's Dos Mares shopping center from 10:00 to 13:0 pm and from 18:00 to 20:00 h.

There will also be collection points in the market on Wednesday in Santiago de la Ribera, and Thursday in San Javier, from 10:00 to 13:00 h.

The mayor Antonio Luengo explained that this initiative was one of the proposals made within the Platform Commission Stop Evictions in order to assist families affected by evictions through Caritas which is the agency that provides this type of direct assistance to families.

Luengo like the rest of these citizens encouraged to contribute according to their means, providing non-perishable food, hygiene and cleanliness, "to at least get that nobody is left without eating, especially children," said José Espinar.

The City Commission was established Antidesahucios earlier this year and is composed of representatives of the political groups represented in the municipal corporation, the Platform Stop Evictions, Caritas, and the departments of Social Services and Consumer Safety, but remains open to any association or entity that has something to contribute, Luengo said.

Helping families affected is the ultimate goal of this Commission to work for years in several direccciones.

As explained Luengo, it is working with banks to try to get a social rent for families avoiding eviction, and has initiated the amendment of the municipal ordinance for not taxing capital gains the affections with.

It has also requested a meeting in the courts to address the suspension of foreclosure cases, and has contacted the Federation of Municipalities in order to know if there is another similar commission in the region in order to coordinate activities and collaborate .
