The Department of Social Services promotes memory training among the largest in the county with a Memory series of workshops taught in Senior Centers.
The last of these workshops, which has already been successfully held in La Manga and El Mirador, was held at the Senior Center of Santiago de la Ribera, given by the Association of graduates in Social Education, EducoYa.
Nieves Juan Masia, Social Education, and one of the instructors of the workshop, explained that the specific event of memory loss in an older person does not have to be, always, a matter of concern or a sign of disease, but a condition that may be linked to age, and can fight with memory training.
Workshop participants work tools to handle as it relates to memory through strategic and technical aspects of association and games hierarchy of words, lyrics display, of meaning and expression, in order to improve memory favoring the autonomy of the individual and reducing thereby the anxiety that may occur in a given time total or partial lack of the ability to remember.
