The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martínez exhibition opened last night in a ceremony attended by Colonel AGA, Emilio Gracia, and numerous guests.
The sample is performed to mark the 125th Anniversary of Santiago de la Ribera reflected through 176 snapshots, the evolution of the local population as well as the military base, not to mention changes in the overall planning, infrastructure , landscapes and social development of its people.
Most of the photographs in the exhibition are from the archives of the General Air Academy dated from 1929, a set of great historical value that has been digitized in recent years through the Municipal Archives of the Department of Heritage City of San Javier.
The scanned file that gives rise to the sample consists of aerial views of the Mar Menor and the people of his region, especially Santiago de la Ribera taken from the first previous flights to the creation of the Naval Air Base (1929) to almost today.
Along with aerial photographs, reproduced in larger sizes, are reported in other series dedicated to aircraft that have made history in the Base, the evolution of the military institution in the city, both as a military compound in the residential colony Town air, and you can even remember all the colonels who have been through the AGA.
It also includes other reflecting the daily life of the residents, and provide a historical overview of the evolution of Santiago de la Ribera.
Among the photographs can be seen in the sample features an image of the first class, departure in 1932, what was the Spanish Naval Base Marina, home of the AGA, even in times of the Republic.
In addition to historical images showing the physical evolution of Santiago de la Ribera, as the first yacht club, or the origin of Miramar, when it was "The branch of the new inn" on the beach Barnuevo.
You can also see the house "Hotel" that built the Barnuevo family and the small chapel dedicated to St. James, along with housing, an image of the early 1900s, when it was the only vestige of life on the part of the vast estate Torreminguez, which is today Santiago de la Ribera.
The digitized collection that include exposure will enrich the historical background of the municipal archives of San Javier and made available to all citizens who wish to consult it.
