The Department of Environment has advanced today to celebrate the International Forest Day which takes place on March 21, calling this morning to pupils in years 4 and 5 municipal schools to attend an educational and recreational activity which has had the tree as the protagonist.
More than 300 students from schools "Sacred Heart", "The Memory" and "Severo Ochoa", passed along by the morning of the City hall where two monitors time, have shown them in a way fun and entertaining the importance of trees and forests.
The activity has focused on indigenous trees, which may be closer to the kids.
They have also learned to identify different types of trees and their evolution throughout the four seasons.
Councillor for the Environment, Celia Martinez stressed the importance of conveying the smaller the love of nature so the International Forest Day is a perfect occasion for, in an attractive way, show the importance of forests and any tree, and the need to ensure their conservation.
