The Governing Council has approved the construction of a storm tank in San Javier, with a budget of about 1.5 billion euros, for annuities 2014 and 2015, financed 80 percent by the European Union.
The new infrastructure, which will hold a volume of 2,300 cubic meters, prevent damage and pollutant discharges caused the Mar Menor in the days of torrential rain and allow proper functionality of the sewerage system of Santiago de la Ribera.
Also, as a complementary infrastructure to tank two collectors that collect water from the existing stormwater network will be built in the town.
In total, both collectors join 739 meters of pipe.
