History in Postcards (10/07/2014)

Councillor for Culture, Inmaculada García and pedánea mayor of Santiago de la Ribera, Julia Gallut yesterday inaugurated the exhibition "Postcards from Our History" is stated in the civic center "Prince of Asturias" in the town until July 31 .

The exhibition hosts 120 antique postcards divided into groups of 30 specimens of Santiago de la Ribera, San Pedro del Pinatar, Pilar de la Horadada, and Los Alcazares.

The selection of images, which start at the beginning of last century, showing places that no longer exist, and landmarks of the peoples of the region, as they were 40, 50 or 60 years ago

The exhibition is organized by, a resident of Santiago de la Ribera and expert cartófilo, pinatarense association Friends of Museums in collaboration with the four municipalities involved, and individuals such as José María Bautista who attended the opening, along with José María Lorente, Association of Friends of Museums, Antonio Zapata, the ECO Cultural Association of Los Alcazares, where the exhibition will travel soon.

José María Bautista encouraged all residents to view the exhibition to know what these people as postcards reflect images of a past that no longer exists.

In the section of Santiago de la Ribera can see some of the large houses built in the beach that no longer exists, iconic spas, spa like Los Angeles, which already can be seen only on postcards, buildings such as the old Miramar, and panoramas that take us to another time.

The postcard, postmarked always, exposure oldest is 1909 and corresponds to the Torre de la Horadada, in which year also another early postcards of San Pedro del Pinatar in which you can see the photographed House Museum Baron Benifayó.

Precisely San Pedro del Pinatar was Rafael de los Rios, author of many of the photographs published in postcards throughout the area, between the 50s and 70s of last century, José María Bautista recalled that praised the image file Ferrer, photographer Santiago de la Ribera, which gets a panoramic photograph of the town in the 50s, and curiously no postcards with their work.

Both pedánea mayor, Julia Gallut as the Councillor for Culture, Inmaculada García praised the exhibition for their aesthetic, evocative documentary value and encouraged residents and tourists to visit because it is a unique opportunity to see so many old pictures together, which gives an idea about how it was and how it has evolved in the area.

Visiting hours of the show and exhibition will be from 09:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 19:00 h.
