Fill out the sextet night pianist Sergio Monroy from Cadiz to present a tribute to Paco de Lucia and her new album "Like a game"
The pianist and composer from Cadiz Sergio Monroy opens Wednesday night at Jazz San Javier with renewed sextet, with their third album "Like a game", and a tribute to Paco de Lucia, with which accepted the proposal of the Festival to provide a reminder to the great master of the guitar, recreating some of his compositions.
Monroy that it showed its spectacular direct in the fourteenth edition of Jazz San Javier, moves outside musical boundaries.
Strong flamenco roots, and enormous creativity that led him to break with the academic classicism, Sergio Monroy also shows a strong influence of jazz, and great skill in the merger.
"As a game" is their third album after acclaimed albums "Monroy", nominated for the National Critics Awards Flamenco, and "Chicuco" which led him to perform in cities such as Havana, Mexico City, New York or Chicago, among many others.
Sergio Monroy has also accompanied numerous artists as Miguel Poveda and Pasión Vega, among others, is moving back to somewhere between flamenco and jazz in this last album for which has enjoyed collaborations from María del Mar Fernández, Antonio Reyes, Javier Ruibal, among others.
The second part of the evening will be devoted to the most authentic New Orleans jazz with Preservation Jall Jazz Band, training with over 50 years of history, which owes its name to the hall The Preservation Hall, located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, where the band came and where he played for decades.
Preservation Hall Jazz Band is all one, the most important musical institution which is dedicated to keeping the musical tradition that emerged in New Orleans alive.

Along with Ben Jaffe, who took over leadership of the band in 1993, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and has worked with many notable artists as The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Mos Def, Pete Seeger, Andrew Bird, Steve Earle, Angelique Kidjo and many others.
In 2008, the band received the National award given by the U.S. government Medal of Arts.
