The Time Bank of San Javier has become a benchmark in addressing the issue of volunteering and new forms of social cooperation.
Although it is not a new phenomenon, San Javier has succeeded, after being one of the first municipalities to implement it in Spain, be an example not only for its effectiveness but also for its constant updating and subsequent growth over the years.
Its officials have given talks and participated in conferences in different parts of Spain invited by public and private institutions interested in launching a Time Bank.
They have also been invited to give lectures in the field of education to raise awareness and convey to young people the meaning and practice of being a volunteer.
Have recently given five talks to five groups of 3 ° of ESO institute "Antonio Menarguez" Los Alcazares with excellent results.
The technique of Volunteering, Natalia Conesa, accompanied by student interns Center for Social Services, Esther Trujillano were in charge of explaining to students how to create and how a Time Bank works.
Students received first a theoretical lecture to check later in a group dynamic, the actual operation.
Everyone was part of the Time Bank offering two services, according to their skills while requesting other two.
A registered once all services demonstrating how they could help themselves and skills gathered from all add up.
