The Bridge Laughing La Manga will be closed to traffic from 9 to 11 February from eight o'clock until two in the afternoon and from three to seven p.m., during the works are performed for rehabilitation.
During the hours when traffic will remain closed a special security device to handle any eventuality.
The works consist of a reinforced bridge with an injection of cement, replacing the asphalt roadway by pavers, fill embankments, cleaning and replacement of the masonry, improved pedestrian safety by bollards separation between sidewalk and driveway and outer railing, removal of architectural barriers and monumental lighting.
The budget of the work amounts to 136,499 euros funded 70 percent by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and the rest by the City of San Javier.
The bridge, which overcomes one of the gullets of La Manga, was built in 1978 by Tomás Maestre as part of his idea to develop Veneziola, inspired by the canals of Venice.
The deterioration over time and condition typical image of that area of La Manga motivated the works of being subject to rehabilitate and beautify this infrastructure.
