The general director of Educational Quality, Innovation and Attention to Diversity, Begoña Iniesta, met this morning with the Councillor for Education of San Javier, Catalina Perez, to study the possible incorporation of new schools to bilingual network of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities, which has now reached 223 schools and Primary Education in the Region.
During the visit, the Director General of Educational Quality and the Councillor for Education visited the school and Primary Education Fulgencio Ruiz of the town, one that could be incorporated into this network for the next academic year 2015-2016.
"The extension of the bilingual model, which has now reached almost 50 percent of schools in the Region, is one of the commitments of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities, something increasingly demanded by families and valued by society because it offers better prepare students tackling their academic and professional future, "said Begoña Iniesta.
Currently, bilingual education is present in 37 of the 45 municipalities in the region, which means that about 28,500 primary school students studying in a foreign language.
In the last examination session, held in the year 2014-2015, a total of 80 centers to bilingual network, bringing the percentage of such schools now about 50 percent, a goal that the Department intended to get joined in two years and already has nearly reached.
This increased participation of schools in the Region of Murcia in the bilingual program represents an important step in the measures contained in the '+ Languages' strategy, developed from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities for improving learning foreign languages ​​among the school population.
