Councillor for Education and Volunteering and Cati Pérez today introduced the Association of People with Parkinson sick del Mar Menor, recently created in San Javier, located in the Hotel Association of Municipal Volunteer Program which includes Time Bank.
The mayor was accompanied by the president of the Association, Genoveva Ortiz, who suffers from Parkinson's and attended the Time Bank for help in the field of speech therapy.
With advice from the staff of the council and the support of Hotel Associations, Genoveva ended up creating an association with the aim of channeling aid to individuals and families affected by Parkinson, in the Mar Menor.
The virtual headquarters in the Hotel Association, is also physical host this new partnership is already offering free services to 17 people, including gym three days a week, and speech therapy and psychological care two days a week in the building Social Services, located on the street Bernal, 13, Santiago de la Ribera.
The Association, with the collaboration of a speech therapist, a physical therapist and neuropsychologist, now part of the Federation of People Affected by Parkinson in the Region of Murcia and continues to receive calls from affected, including Pilar de la Horadada ( Alicante), explained its president, Genoveva Ortiz.
In the Mar Menor area, including San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcazares and Torre Pacheco there are 390 people with the disease, the total of 4,700 affected by Parkinson's that exist in the Region of Murcia, Ortiz said Genoveva .
Among the services provided by the Association counseling, and care not only psychological but also administrative or potential social benefits and self-help groups and others are also included.
The mayor, Cati Perez praised "the work, effort and enthusiasm" with which Genoveva Ortiz has launched this partnership "alive, active and inclusive" and reiterated its support for the latter project emerged from the Hotel Association itself.
Genoveva acknowledged the support received from the City of San Javier in counseling and guidance to launch the association and precise for their operation infrastructure.
