Give a new chance and a new life to books is the main objective of the "Book Market" that the municipal library of San Javier has taken one more summer to the weekly market of Santiago de la Ribera where the public can choose one or more copies to take home for free.
As if it were one more post, along with other retail food or clothing, the stand of the municipal library presents a wide collection that can be found novel, biography, technical texts, journals, and even textbooks.
All books come from donations from individuals to the local library or are old and out of print titles from the back of the library itself.
The Councillor for Culture, David Martinez who visited this morning the "Book Market" highlighted this initiative "that brings culture to the streets giving a new opportunity to return the books, in another way, society".
David Martinez recalled that the book market is from five years ago in San Javier, the first Thursday of each month except summer months moves to Santiago de la Ribera the second Wednesday of every month, coinciding with the weekly market .
The mayor of Culture praised the work of the municipal library coordinator, Toni Diaz and the head of the library of Santiago de la Ribera, Luis Montealegre who were responsible for attending the book market from 9 to 13: 00h.
In August it will be reinstalled on Wednesday 12 at its usual location at the entrance to the market square of the Sea Doors
Luis Montealegre stressed the good reception that has traditionally had the initiative in the audience that is surprised by the possibility of taking home the books for free.
The novel is the most demanded genre but also biographies.
Among the "clients" there connoisseurs, for years, this initiative which adds more public each year.
