The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and the Councillor for Social Services, Estíbaliz Masegosa this afternoon visited the facilities of Caritas San Javier, accompanied by the pastor Jose Leon and president of Caritas San Javier, Francisco Griñón, following the recent signing of renewal of a collaboration agreement between both institutions representing the contribution of 26,000 euros to the charity that works for 20 years in San Javier.
Luengo said the visit to Caritas San Javier, as a few days ago to Santiago de la Ribera, in the interest of "know how it works inside, show our support and thank the work volunteers", with which they agreed Time delivery of food and open closet.
The mayor of San Javier reiterated that the City of San Javier "has to help out who is helping so many people" in relation to Caritas that according to Jose Leon last year assisted in various ways, to 264 families, reaching more than 800 people.
The march to their countries of many Ecuadorian and Bolivian families has caused a decline in demand for help, said the parish priest of San Javier, who noted that currently 55 percent of those seeking help are of Spanish nationality.
Both Leon and Jose Francisco Griñón thanked the economic contribution of the City which represents almost 50 percent of the total amount spent on aid in 2014, with the remainder coming from the private sector and individuals as well as ecclesiastical institutions.
All this apart from the 45,000 kilos of food Food Bank came together to also provide local private companies that appreciated their cooperation.
Beyond the immediate aid, Caritas San Javier has implemented various development programs, such as classes and other school support and offers, thanks to an agreement with the City the help of a social worker.
The training of volunteers also works and is preparing a new project for the fall called "the wardrobe" which shall be an employment, explained José León.
Councillor for Social Services, Estíbaliz Masegosa also highlighted the work carried out Caritas, with whom we work closely from the municipal social services, holding a meeting a month in which, among other things, the most difficult cases are addressed detected among claimants of help.
Masegosa took the opportunity to call on all those who may be in need or want to volunteer to come up and know Caritas San Javier.
