Secretary of State for Sport, Miguel Cardenal today visited San Javier invited by the students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences on the occasion of the celebration of the festival of its patron, St. Francis Xavier, who have been held in municipal sports facilities San Javier where he was received by the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, and Dean of the Faculty, Arturo Diaz.

Secretary of State for Sport spoke of the Faculty of Sports Science of the University of Murcia, San Javier as "an important engine for development of sport in the region of Murcia" and forward the content of an agreement to be signed by the Secretariat State and the Autonomous Community of Murcia on sports tourism.
Cardinal added that this is a "pioneering program established elsewhere in the world and will become a source of prosperity, entrepreneurship and a source of employment for all students of the Faculty".
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo welcomed the visit of Secretary of State at San Javier, "where we are so involved with the sport" and noted the coincidence that St. Francis Xavier is the patron of the municipality, of the Faculty of Sport UMU and the tourism sector, in relation to the symbiosis of sports and tourism to boost the regional administration and the San Javier is so committed.
Luengo reiterated "the municipal commitment to the Faculty and the decision to cooperate so that there are more degrees and can have their own sports facilities will also be usable by the residents in Santiago de la Ribera".
