Ur Shakespeare Theatre returns to one of his lesser known early works, "Two Gentlemen of Verona", a story of friendship and betrayal
Ur Theatre, the company founded in 1987 in Renteria (Guipúzcoa), celebrated its twentieth anniversary last year with one of the least known and performed works of Shakespeare, "Two Gentlemen of Verona", one of the first plays English teacher which speaks of friendship, love, loyalty and betrayal, who on Sunday will see the Festival of San Javier.
Helena Pimenta versions and directs this play which highlights the work of actors face off in a nude scene of courtly language texts Italianate and English humor.
Ur Theatre has mounted other Shakespeare plays as "Romeo and Juliet", which we saw in San Javier, "Dream of a Summer Night" and "The Tempest", relegates this time of tragedy to go into this comedy happy ending that the director has set in the 20's of last century.
The atmosphere at the time, so dear to the director, is justified in the belief "very of our time," the friend who betrays the other sure that "everything is to achieve the end proposed, that everything is justified get your own comfort and pleasure, "as explained by Helena Pimenta, one of the great familiar with the works of William Shakespeare in our country, who has also directed for the National Classical Theatre Company, and the National Theatre of Catalonia.
The play tells the story of Valentine and Proteus childhood friends who are separated by deciding to leave Verona to see Valentin world while Proteus decides to remain in their city and fight for his love for Julia.
Once you get to travel to Milan with his friend who will not hesitate to betray the love of his beloved Silvia.
Helena Pimenta has received São José Pedro Galván at the scenery, Miguel Angel Camacho in lighting, and Ana Garay for the costumes, says the importance of "Two Gentlemen of Verona" is considered minor in the works of Shakespeare, because It provides some of the keys to his later creations.
Also remember to Romeo and Juliet, even set in the same city, also appears for the first time the woman to survive man should dress and other features of "Othello" and other works.
The main difference with their tragedies, is the tone of parody that draws the author, who was also a reason for its choice because "we believe there is currently a need to look at reality from comedy and tragedy that often lose the ability to analyze the speech ", as explained Pimenta.
