Four riders of the Association Mar Menor Amigos del Camino de Santiago has completed the route that runs from Mar Menor Santiago de la Ribera to Santiago de Compostela, after covering the 1,252 miles between the two points in a total of 11 days.
This is the first time, complete this route, which the Association itself officially with the placement of a plaque at kilometer 0, contained in the base of the statue of Santiago Peregrino who chairs the Columbus walk from the seaside resort.
Participating cyclists, Juan Ruiz, José Luis Gómez, José Antonio Salmerón Antolinos and, between 54 and 66 years old, came out on Sept. 6 from mile 0, under the image of Santiago, where they were dismissed by authorities, family and friends.
The Association has received funding from the City for this adventure through the Department of Tourism that has provided the costumes which have worn the coat of San Javier and the logo of the Department, and a car shuttle to return.
The trip was uneventful outstanding, not without strenuous and difficult stages, some more complicated as passing through the mountainous terrain of Leon and Lugo.
All the way used shelters and hostels for pilgrims to stay overnight and rest before starting a new stage.
The Association Mar Menor Amigos del Camino de Santiago made last year the French route from Roncesvalles to Santiago de Compostela, and is planning to complete the Via de La Plata, to reach Santiago leaving from Sevilla.
