A total of 16 workers, 12 men and 4 tractor currently working on cleaning and maintenance of beaches and boardwalks of the municipality in Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga, from entry through a regional grant last summer, according to informed the Department of Tourism and Beaches, Jesus Montesinos.
The 16 workers were hired for a period of six months through a grant of 183,000 euros obtained through the Employment and Training Service, SEF, under the Ministry of Education and Employment of the Autonomous Region of Murcia.
The Councillor for Tourism and Beaches, Jesus Montesinos has said that "thanks to this grant, the City has been spared the usual recruitment of personnel for the reinforcement as cleaning beaches each year."
Montesinos also stresses that the period of 6 months by granting "allows us to continue to enjoy this important service beyond the summer and that our beaches are in perfect condition, not only in the summer months."
The Councillor for Tourism highlighted the critical importance has had to have a service exclusively to the maintenance of beaches "in these days when heavy rains have caused extensive damage to beaches that have been repaired immediately," .
Jesus Montesinos has been advanced that his department will continue working "to ensure the care of our beaches throughout the year and it is our main tourist attraction in summer and winter."
