Women Councilwoman Maria Angeles Chumillas have read this morning a manifesto against gender violence, to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
M ª Angeles Chumillas has invited the public to share the reading of the manifesto that has appealed to respect the dignity of women, both in treatment and in the visibility and the need for effective measures in preventing violence against women.
The councilman of Women has begun his speech with a reminder to the 58 women who were victims of male abuse so far this year in Spain and all women who have suffered physical or psychological abuse.
Chum has invited all "to involve us more in this cause," and stressed "the need to break the barrier of silence" by encouraging society to "not shut up and report cases of abuse are known.
M ª Angeles Chumillas recalled the events organized this afternoon in Murcia on the occasion of International Day against violence to women, for which the council has arranged a bus to provide assistance to those interested in the municipality.
