The mayor of San Javier Pepa Garcia and Councilman Celebrations Jesus Montesinos delivered tomorrow awards for farmers, fisherfolk, and Pirates 2008 awarded by the festival committee composed of representatives of the rocks festive.
The award ceremony will be held in the auditorium of Town Hall at 21.30 h.
the presence of the banners of rocks disguised as peasants, fishermen and pirates evoke the origin of the municipality, when the first settlers were attacked by pirates.
The awards granted to individuals in the field of agriculture, marine, and social, have fallen to as Farmer José León, José Antonio Lucas as a Mariner and Jose Santos Sanchez as a Pirate.
José León is one of the farmers of San Javier longest running who has dedicated his life to the field, working the farm known as The Bells, until his retirement.
The Sailor of the Year, José Antonio Lucas, is one of the more local paddlers and experienced veterans still going strong as evidenced by his recent world title runner-up in K-1 to win in Prague last September.
The title of Pirate, which is awarded to persons connected with the media or social relevance, has obtained José Santos, retired lover of culture, after many years remains the voice of the Senior Center from San Javier where he is a correspondent for the local media.
The delivery of these awards mobilizes festive rocks that once the ceremony, parade to the tent of Almansa park, which opened its doors with 15 dining booths run by the rocks, from tomorrow night until 7 December.
