The 2009 municipal budget has been approved following a period of one month since Tuesday 22 January at 24:00 h, without having filed a motion of censure, which would have crippled its approval because the budget presentation in Parliament connected to an issue of trust, on 22 December 2008.
The mayor of San Javier Pepa Garcia has expressed his satisfaction at the approval of the municipal accounts "as the main beneficiaries are the residents of San Javier as the extension of previous budget last year, and the cessation of current groups opposition made it impossible to undertake projects and works that can now be done, and that will mean an improved quality of life for our neighbors. "
Councilman Hacienda, José Angel Noguera stated that approval of the budget "means being able to run the 10.5 million that includes the investment chapter," including those highlighted by the construction of a nursery in Santiago de la Ribera a school in San Javier, and the provision of new furniture for the municipal library, the renovation of the park Almansa, or a long list of projects that will improve public services in all districts of the municipality.
The municipal budget for 2009 amounts to EUR 49,753,850.94, 4.5 less than the previous due mainly to lower tax under the Buildings, or rebate approved by the House on Property Tax, to to offset the annual increase provided by the latest cadastral revision, so that if the city does not suffer that the City will rise to 3 million euros to enter.
The mayor of Hacienda, José Angel Noguera explained that the current crisis is very much in the spirit of this budget that forces us to a rigorous control of both income and expenditure.
This chapter is imposed austerity and tight control has been saving some action, some drastic as removing all the festivals for 2009 except the International Jazz Festival and the International Festival of Theatre and Dance.
