Soul music on Friday to get a legend in the history of jazz, the pianist and composer Ahmad Jamal, who at 79 years, remains one of the most important and influential on the international stage, as demonstrated with latest album "It's Magic" to be presented in San Javier, in a concert of Music of the Soul, first stop of only two events in Spain in their European tour.
The chief architect of the piano trio in jazz, has influenced countless musicians with their way of thinking about the silence, the spaces and dramatic interpretation, with which captivates the audience in their live.
In San Javier, Ahmad Jamal accompany the piano, with training of emergency in which joins the trio of James Cammack on bass and James Johnson on drums, the legendary percussionist Manolo Badrena, former member of Wheather Report, with was already recording for his anticipated new album, released three years after his acclaimed "After Fajr."
The addition of percussion opens a new direction in music always restless and innovative Ahmad Jamal, one of the few living figures from the golden age of jazz that continues to bring fresh air into modern jazz, as evidenced in his latest work, produced by French label Dreyfus-Birdology, which includes new compositions as "fitnah" and "Papillon" with other issues such as the version that made the Oscar-winning "The way you look tonight" from the film of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers "Swing Time."
Which has been the greatest influence of the great Miles Davis recognized and acknowledged as a master among masters of jazz pianists, started on piano at 3 years and began his career at 11.
His first band "Three Strings" created it in 1950, shortly before converting to Islam and adopt its new name Ahmad Jamal, with whom he also named his new Trio, Ahmad Jamal Trio, who recorded two albums which included the classic "Ahmad's Blues" and a version of "Pavanne" that would end later as the basis for the songs "So What" by Miles Davis, and "Impressions" by John Coltrane.
With over 50 year career, Jamal is making his live shows an event.
With full respect to other instruments, Ahmad Jamal argues that the bass is the backbone of a Trio-leaves a great freedom in the rhythm section, giving each instrument the role that requires both his original compositions as immortal versions of songs like "Poinciana," the instrumental piece that won the only jazz musician located in Top 10 Pop Music in America.
