The mayor of San Javier Pepa Garcia this morning attended the opening of new offices of Caritas San Javier, a local loan from City Hall, located at Calle Coronel Fernández Tudela, San Javier.
The new facilities have to organize the closet in a large room and two offices for personal attention, and add to the old municipal warehouse, which is dedicated to storage and delivery of food.
At the opening of new facilities already in operation have assisted the parish priest and vicar of San Javier area, Jose Leon, the director of Caritas, Griñó Francisco and a group of 40 volunteers with Caritas counts in San Javier currently serves 400 families, almost 50 percent more than last year, with a total of 2,000 beneficiaries.
Most are foreign families, although it has increased the number of Spanish which exceed 20 percent of the total, among which 30 families are "very serious economic problems", which provides assistance in collaboration with the Social Services City, as reported by Jose Leon.
The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia praised the work of volunteers through Caritas, where she has volunteered for over 20 years and has recognized the work being done in the municipality at a time of special need while emphasizing "the dignified working conditions" to provide new facilities.
Caritas San Javier offers service closet, Tuesdays from 10 to 12 hours when you can use both to apply to clothing.
The distribution of food, which comes from the Food Bank, Caritas Diocesan and donations, is made in the store next to the closet on Thursday afternoon.
Care for families takes place on Tuesdays at 18:00
Both the president of Caritas, as the pastor Griñó Francisco Jose Leon thanked the cooperation of the City for the transfer of the premises and the building work that they have finished painting and renovating the premises.
Jose Leon pointed out that these days is the week of Charity, which will be used to project the service offered by Caritas in San Javier and try to recruit more volunteers to the workload that currently have this social organization of the Catholic church which is part of the Pastoral Area Mar Menor Cartagena Country where last year 16,556 people attended.
