The director general of Transport and Ports, Carmen Sandoval, today visited the construction of the bike lane linking Santiago de La Ribera to the San Javier air base.
The performance runs parallel to the F-34 highway that runs alongside the Mar Menor, San Javier from up the road between Cabo de Palos and El Albujón.
"It's a 2.6-kilometer stretch popular with cyclists because of the high profile tourist area, the excellent weather conditions and terrain, factors that invite the use of bicycles," said the director general.
The Ministry of Public Works and Regional Planning invests 750,000 euros in the construction of the bike lane in order to promote sustainable mobility through cycling and road safety of cyclists and drivers who drive on the F-34 , a work that also includes conditioning and strengthening of the pavement of the road.
Thus, Sandoval said that "aims to continue to rail connection network driven by different municipalities in the region to enhance sustainable mobility."
Thus, the works of the F-34 joined with Los Alcazares San Javier, the latter already has a bike path that connects the town with The Narejos.
In this regard, he stressed the importance of the subsidies granted by the Directorate General for Transport and Ports to promote sustainable mobility and to enable a comprehensive network of bicycle lanes.
