The impact of transportation on air pollution is the issue addressed by the exhibition of Ecologists in Action on the occasion of the European Mobility Week has been organized by the Department of Environment.
The exhibition can be seen at the civic center of San Javier to 22 September shows in 13 panels from transport hazards to the environment which gives the greatest impact in this order to the automobile, aircraft and high-speed train.
Ecologists in Action will give a talk debate on this issue next Monday at 20:00 pm
in the exhibition.
The exhibition also addresses the "myth of infrastructures", with references to an international study on the negative effects of large infrastructure between citing the danger of centralization of industry and services with large cities or small towns that live off the tourism and that by reducing travel time and tourists are no longer sleep or eat, thus reducing their income.
The show ends up exposing some sustainable alternatives such as reducing the speed of cars, better public transport, enhance services in neighborhoods, the use of bicycles, restrict traffic and limit parking in urban centers.
Within the program of the Mobility Week takes place on Saturday the day of "Bicitapeo", consisting of a cycling tour from the sports hall of San Javier which departs at 09:30 h.
to La Manga for free using the ferry.
Once in La Manga two partner establishments provide cover and drink for $ 2 participants to return to Santiago de la Ribera their bikes on the ferry at 14:30.
To encourage and facilitate cycling on Sunday has scheduled a bike maintenance workshop at 17:00

On Tuesday, September 22 will close the program of activities with a day without a car, for which will close to traffic the streets E, Maestre, and Andres Baquero, adjacent to the Plaza of Spain, by which pedestrians and may not be moved public transport, and serve as real scenario to lecture to school children who will be visiting the area throughout the morning on Road Safety Education in collaboration with the local police in San Javier.
