The mayor of San Javier, Pepa García has welcomed and wished luck to all participants in the European Cup Triathlon 2009 which takes place in Santiago de la Ribera this weekend, at the opening ceremony of the competition which includes qualifying events for the Youth Olympic Games and has attended by the Director General of Sports, Antonio Penalver, president of the European Triathlon Union, Emilio di Toro, the presidents of national federations, Jose Hidalgo, and regional, Diego Calvo, and the Councillor for Sports of San Javier, José Angel Noguera.
The ceremony began at 12:30 h.
on the promenade in front of Club Nautico de Santiago de la Ribera, with a display of gymnastics, with the Cartagena rhythmic club, runners-up Spain, and the parade of the 32 delegations to end an air show Patrol Acrobatic Academy Eagle Air General, that all delegations have been able to see from the Yacht Club dock.
