Channel citizen participation in municipal decisions affecting the environment is the objective of the Forum San Javier 21 which was formed last night in the municipality of San Javier, in a session chaired by the mayor, Pepa Garcia, the mayor of Environment Jose Luis Espinosa and regional director of the Local Agenda 21, José Antonio Padilla.
Those attending the public announcement made by the Department of Environment chosen by vote among four candidates volunteer their president, Philip Bath, and Vice President Jose Antonio Diaz, who will lead the Forum, whose secretariat will hold Marcela Valiente, Technical Environment municipal.
The forum will also have many members as citizens want to join this instrument of citizen participation that will work six committees that will address various topics targeted in previous environmental diagnosis.
Each committee will draw up its proposals with the aim of reaching a comprehensive action plan to be developed within a specified period, during which, the Forum will continue with a meeting schedule in order to verify its implementation.
The committees to which the members can register will be formed at the next Forum meeting scheduled for next month.
The areas of the committees shall environment and economic welfare, natural environment and biodiversity, territorial organization and mobility, environmental vectors: water, energy, soil, waste, air, noise and light pollution, environmental intervention instruments, municipal structure and environment, and risks and environmental infrastructure.
The regional director of the Local Agenda 21, José Antonio Padilla welcomed the broad participation of citizens in front of more than 60 attendees to the constitution of the Forum "which will be vital for the development of Agenda 21 in the town, one of the first Region in forming the Citizens' Forum, which are more advanced in the implementation of Agenda 21, "according to the mayor of the Environment, José Luis Espinosa.
The Mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia highlighted the importance of the implementation of Agenda 21 and the significance for the future of the town and its social value which is to provide the City Council of an instrument of citizen participation that gives voice neighbors and vote on topics of general interest in their municipality.
Precisely the crosscutting nature that characterizes the Agenda 21, participation enriches as councilman recalled the Environment, since "the goal is to involve and link environmental policies with other areas of municipal life."
