The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia and the village headman of Santiago de la Ribera, José drapes, accompanied by the municipal archivist, Luis Lluch opened yesterday the exhibition "Education in San Javier: a historical approach through the Archive documents "which can be seen at the Senior Center of Santiago de la Ribera until 29 November.
The exhibition is over for San Javier and El Mirador, has now reached Santiago de la Ribera with two new display cases devoted to this population that had not been shown so far.
The new documents that appear on the show that has had great success with the public, are inventories Girls School No 1, written by Sabina Ruiz Jover teachers in 1947, and Demetria Walls in 1961.
Other documents presented in the record shows municipal expropriation of land for the construction of schools in Santiago de la Ribera in 1935, or a subsequent letter dated in 1955 by Juan de la Cierva, Senior Officer of the Ministry of Education informed Mayor of the approval of the School for the Bank Group.
The exhibition curated by the municipal archivist, Luis Lluch includes more than 60 documents dated between 1886 and 1974, organized into six sections on schools, students, teachers, teaching materials, private school, and adult education.
Apart from documents, and as a historical setting have included children's books, textbooks, tools specific to education at the time, and many photographs of groups of students with their teacher, in which many of the visitors to the exhibition are recognized .
