Spain, during its presidency of the EU Council, promotes the "Initiative Youth Exchange officers" inspired by the ERASMUS MILITARY.
The academic module, which has been developed entirely in English, has been dedicated to the teaching of the Common Security and Defence Policy (ESDP).
Module development has also tried to study the CSDP, the exchange of experiences that empower youth to strengthen common values in the field of security and defense of the EU.
In the Council of General Affairs and External Relations of the European Union (GAERC) of 2 October 2008, the defense ministers approved a French initiative to promote the exchange of students and teachers between official military academies countries Union.
This is a program similar to the Erasmus university, which aims to improve interoperability between European armed forces, contribute to their military fraternization and dissemination of European culture, security and defense, in favor of European unity.
Since this military education program was recently approved more than a year, the successive presidencies of the EU - French, Czech and Swedish - have driven through seminars devoted to the study of its implementation, held in Paris, and Stockholm Brno.
In September last year, Portugal held for the first time, an academic module open to cadets and midshipmen from across the EU.
The seminar was held in the three Portuguese military academies, set in Lisbon.
The Spanish Defense Ministry, aware of the importance of this initiative, has committed during the current presidency, to continue promoting its implementation.
Therefore, under the auspices of the Directorate General of Military Recruitment and Training (DIGEREM), the 3 military academies - Military Academy in Zaragoza, the Naval Academy and Academy of Marin General Air San Javier-developed, so simultaneously, from 1 to 5 March, the stage presence of CSDP module.
This stage presence of previously complemented module with a phase distance under the aegis of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), based in Brussels.
The phase distance of 3 weeks, began on February 8 during development and students had to study and pass tests of basic knowledge about the history of the European Union and its institutions and European Strategy Security (ESS).
General The General Air Academy in San Javier has gathered 28 cadets from 10 EU countries
General Air Academy has carried out along this week, the stage presence of the module on Common Security and Defence of the European Union (CSDP).
Module development in two phases, has been to vehicular English language.
This module have gathered in San Javier 28 students from 10 European Union countries: Germany, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Spain, as an organizer.
Of the 28 students, 2 were women in France and Germany.
Speakers have spoken national and other EU countries.
All of them have extensive experience in the field of ESDP, and some of them have occupied or currently occupy, positions of responsibility in the EU institutions in Brussels.
Also included in this spirit ERASMUS exchange students and teachers, teachers have participated as speakers of many other European military academies (Portugal and Sweden and France).
Improvement, with use, students report a number of European credits (ECTS) proportional to their duration and effort required, in accordance with European standards of education, so that it can be recognized in their respective academies national military.
In addition to the purely academic, the module is completed with a series of cultural events, which have shown to students in other countries the main monuments of the Region of Murcia and the environment near the Academia General del Aire.
The new training program will be an opportunity for the development of the initiative inspired by ERASMUS exchange
The Spanish military training may undertake future steps of the ERASMUS exchange ambitious MILITARY, thanks to new model of officer training school established by Law 39/2007 regulating the military.
From September 2010, the General Air Academy will be held, the general and specific military training, and additionally, corresponding to a degree of mainstream education in Industrial Engineering at the university of Defense ( CUD), attached to the University of Cartagena.
The correspondence of this new system of education with the Bologna plan approval may facilitate learning and exchange of students and teachers between the military academies of the European countries that have implemented.
