The municipality of San Javier has joined the global campaign of Earth Hour WWF that promotes the power outage for an hour on Saturday March 27 from 20:30 h, and collectively to combat climate change.
For this reason, after this time will turn off street lighting in the plaza of San Javier Spain, Avenida Mar Menor and Sandoval Avenue, between San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera, and the center of El Mirador.
The global mobilization campaign is directed also to individuals and invites citizens to turn off lights and unplug electrical appliances on Saturday from 20:30 to 21:30 h.
The mayor of San Javier, Pepa García stressed the importance of taking part in these campaigns and awareness because even if only symbolically show that we all can accomplish something, and contributes to spreading environmental education.
With this issue, WWF hopes to overcome last year when 4,159 cities in 88 countries, the lights of its landmarks.
An initiative of the institutions that multiplies the effects of the campaign among the public, reaching last year to one billion people worldwide, according to figures from WWF.
