The mayor of San Javier, Pepa García considered "uncooperative and unfair" the position of local groups, popular and independent in relation to the bridge of El Estacio "and we do not know if they defend the interests of the residents or owners of Tall Ships. "
Pepa García regretted that the opposition groups to renounce the claim along with a new team of government funding for the opening and closing the bridge to prevent the residents of San Javier have to pay from their pockets the 230,000 euros it costs to service and that justice is not theirs.
The mayor, Pepa Garcia added that the opposition in the municipality of San Javier has decided to leave only the municipal government team in its reasonable request of an agreement that would promote regional government and that includes all parties involved since it is Union for the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor for tall ships as sailing vessels and motor does not require the opening of the bridge.
"On the contrary, the opposition accuses us of negligence and even harm the image of regional tourism," said the Mayor, "when is an issue that affects the regional government, several municipalities, and marinas and more."
Pepa García flatly rejected the position of the opposition "because they think it is fair to the residents of San Javier afford alone, the surgical opening and closing."
The Mayor noted that "another thing is the maintenance of the bridge, which itself assumes the City Council to ensure at all times by road over the neighbors of each other near La Manga."
Also remarked that "in an exercise of responsibility and until a definitive solution", the City of San Javier is committed to open twice a day the bridge with its own resources is taking place since 17 March.
The government team of the municipality of San Javier started working on this issue before last summer when he won the city contract with the company Intersa, responsible for the operation of the bridge, and it announced an increase in cost would amount to 230,000 euros.
Led by the Mayor, Pepa Garcia, the city government considered unfair that fact so tried by all means come to an agreement with the autonomous region and municipalities bordering the Mar Menor (Cartagena, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcazares), Clubs Nautical and Marinas in the region of Murcia, to not avoid the responsibility of the municipality of San Javier to reach an agreement that all parties involved in spending.
Most residents of the village welcomed the decision but the opposition at City Hall is tagged as "pulse" to the region.
It is precisely the Autonomous Community which aims to conduct the matter brandishing a signed commitment by the City of San Javier, which in fact the city of San Javier is committed to maintaining the bridge, not its operation of opening and closing.
