The Director General of Tourism, Marina Garcia, together with the mayor of San Javier, Josefa García, and President of the Tourist Consortium Commonwealth Mar Menor and mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, José María García, today unveiled two electric vehicles for maintenance Periodic beaches of Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga.
Garcia said that the vehicles, "very affordable, have advanced technology and are the only of its kind approved in Europe, and I think that will give outstanding service to Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga."
He added that "from the Ministry we will continue to support such investments and any promotion that may make the Mar Menor, it also constitutes one of the major jewels in our tourism."
Both machines have cost a total of 19,881 euros and are authorized to travel on all Spanish roads except motorways.
One of them, the six wheels will go to La Manga and the four wheels to Santiago de la Ribera
The delivery of these two vehicles in addition to the investments that the Community has been doing in the area since 2008, through the Commonwealth Tourist Consortium of the Mar Menor, as is the completion of works in the bike lane between San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera , with an investment of 400,000 euros, the placement of disabled access points in all the beaches of Santiago de la Ribera, at a cost of 120,000 euros, the installation of services to improve the beaches, such as footbaths, parasols and deck chairs amounting to 12,000 euros, and the supply of three cleaning machines for the municipalities of San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier and Los Alcazares, with an investment of 146,000 euros.
